New Program Schedule

Now that Bluegrass Junction is heard on both the Sirius and XM platforms, we've revised the schedule for the feature programming you've been hearing on both services. The idea is to make sure the shows you're looking for air at user-friendly times. Here's the rundown:

The Studio Special series now airs at 8 AM ET on Fridays and Saturdays and 9 PM ET on Sundays and Mondays.

Track-By-Track, as I mentioned in my earlier post, now airs weekly at 11 AM ET on Wednesdays and Sundays and 9 PM ET on Tuesdays.

Grassroots, our classic bluegrass show, has been expanded from two to three hours and renamed Truegrass (the name under which it aired on Sirius Bluegrass). Hosed by award-winning broadcaster-artist Chris Jones, it airs from 3-6 PM ET Fridays and 6-9 PM ET Sundays.

Hand Picked with Del, a show hosted by Del McCoury on which he shares some of his favorite music every week, airs Saturdays and Mondays at 11 AM ET and Thursdays at 9 PM ET.

Finally, Gospel Grass is now called The Gospel Train and airs Sundays from 8-11 AM ET and Wednesdays from 9 PM-Midnight ET.

Alright Kyle, now that you have resurfaced, can you send my bloodhounds, back!! We have missed you. But, its good to see through all the transition, you will still be here. As much as we dread change, it will be fun and interesting to hear what is in store. But, like the jelly, if its got your name on it, its gotta be good.

Hi, I'll just say the whole transiton has been very disappointing to me and I will probably not reniew my XM subcription next year. It seems you are only playing male artists or bands and much more "classic" style bluegrass. I can hardly stand listening. I miss hearing Kyle on the radio.

Are you going to have a request show, like you used to have on Mondays? I miss that! I still cant find the tuning knob,so I guess I'll suffer along...lol

Hi Kyle,
Sure hope that you will continue to keep your blog site up and running. I really enjoy it as do many of your fans! Chin up and keep up the great work over there, ok?

I agree completely with jbeward. Since the channels merged, it seems to me that I'm hearing many, many more traditional/old cuts, and many, many fewer current and/or progressive bands and cuts. I respect, enjoy, and appreciate the "fathers of bluegrass," but I'm much more interested in where bluegrass music is now. I used to learn about a lot of new songs and bands on channel 14; now it seems that 2 out of 3 cuts are at least 40 years old. Ugh.

Ladies and Gentleman, Kyle has left the building...and his blog apparently... Too bad. I really enjoyed it. Kyle, if you read this, we hope that you'll reconsider and post some updates from time to time. Many thanks and all the best to you and all the bluegrass fans and artists across this great land in 2009!

It would be nice to have the request show resurface in 2009!

Kyle, I wish the Studio Specials were rebroadcast again some time later in the week. I keep missing them.

I have a newfound interest and longing
to get back into that special type of
music. Since I picked up a Ralph
Stanley cd (Shine on ) I tink
i have a new interest.
To my suprise when I purchased my xm
I found your program and have been hooked
ever sinse. Then I heard the IBMA and
heard Dailey and Vincents By the marks then I wept for an hour.
Im supposed to be a dig burly 50 year old trucker. I have been walking closer to the Lord because of it.
Thank you Kyle for doing what you
were obviously meant to do.
Paul
