Studio Special Poll

One of our important features on Bluegrass Junction is the Studio Special, that show where the artists appear in our studio to play live and share their thoughts on their lives and careers. Since we started this feature in early 2006, we have done nearly 70 shows and, from your feedback, you seem to have enjoyed them.

I'm constantly looking at our programming to determine if it's meeting your needs, and now I need your help. As you know, every week a different Studio Special airs multiple times (the full schedule is here: Studio Special Air Times). The idea behind that is to give everyone a chance to hear the show regardless of which time zone they live in, or what type of schedule they keep. However, I sometimes wonder if we're airing them at the right time, airing them too much, or if we need to add more broadcasts.

If you will, please take a moment to vote in our poll on this subject. You'll see it on the right. You'll be helping me make Bluegrass Junction more user-friendly for you, and I'd appreciate it.

Hi Kyle,
Let me start by saying, that for me, the Studio Special is truly a highlight of Bluegrass Junction (along with the Track by Track program.) I always look forward to listening to the Studio Special broadcast and normally catch it on the morning drive into work. I can't speak for everyone, but in my case, I normally can't listen to the entire show since I need to get into work by 8:30am EST and so I am normally only able to catch the first half or so. You have no idea how hard it is for me to have to drag myself out of my car in the middle of the show and switch off the program sometimes. Anyway, I usually catch the remaining show on the rebroadcast but if I can make a suggestion or two..Would it be possible to either begin the show at 7:30am or better yet, play the rebroadcast during the drive home hours, say 5:00pm EST during the week? Thanks for asking your listeners for their feedback. Another reason why I believe that you are one of the best in the industry!

Kyle- I,too, love the Studio Specials, and Track by Track. It's great to hear how the artists work. I have learned so much from this program, and all the different things you do here on Track14. I'm a trucker, and have had XM for almost 7 years now. The tuning knob broke shortly thereafter! Right on Track 14-DARN!!! I like how you spread the shows around,so everyone gets to hear them,I personally would like to have it on every day. Thanks!

Kyle, I really like the Studio Specials and the Track by Track shows and the interviews like the ones with Curly Seckler and Jesse McReynolds. I would also love to hear interviews with Larry Sparks, Ronnie Reno or James Monroe or Melvin Goins just to name a few, the stories that these men have is so rich in our love of this music, I am afraid that before they get a chance to share thier stories that people will have forgotten why they are so important. What Ricky Skaggs is doing with his "Honoring The Fathers" album (and I really hope that he does a whole series of these records with Reno and Smiley, Jimmy Martin, Stanley Brothers, Flatt and Scruggs ect) but that still leaves a gap into who these people were and that is why the interviews that you do with these people are so important. I understand the precarious position that puts you in because you have to continue to showcase the new talent that is coming up and still preserve the heritage of Bluegrass, you do a great job of that though and that is why you are "Broadcaster of the Year"

Hi Kyle,

I love your show. I am from Cleveland, where bluegrass music is not exactly mainstream. I therefore really appreciate the chance to hear new bluegrass artists who I would otherwise never hear, as well as my old classic favorites. I am not, however, particularly interested in interviews or other "talk" programming. I want to hear music, not talk. I seem to be in the minority, but I wish there were fewer reruns of the Studio Special.

Congratulations on your well-deserved Broadcaster of the Year award, and keep up the good work!
